HTC FLYER GETTING ANDROID ‘HONEYCOMB’ 3.0 WHEN IT’S AVAILABLE

Many different hardware manufacturers have already released their various tablet offerings on the market with heavy hitters like the Apple iPad 2 and Motorola XOOM leading the pack. But, while these hard hitting devices have been creating quite a bit of buzz there are many other competitors looking to get down on the fun with their own offerings.

HTC FLYER GETTING ANDROID ‘HONEYCOMB’ 3.0 WHEN IT’S AVAILABLE

One such company that is looking to steal a bit of thunder from the aforementioned companies is none other than HTC with their Android powered Flyer tablet. For those not familiar with the HTC Flyer it features a 7-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution, 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 5 megapixel rear facing camera. All of this is pretty much on par with other tablet offerings expect for on a software level where the HTC Flyer features Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.3 rather than the tablet specific Android Honeycomb.

Luckily, we’ve been told in the past that HTC would be giving the tabelt Honeycomb at some point and it has been confirmed again today. This time, HTC has taken to Twitter to respond to a question saying they “will be offering a Honeycomb upgrade when it’s made available”. This most likely means when Google allows HTC to customize the Honeycomb UI with their own Sense UI.

We’ll keep you posted when more information regarding the matter is made known.
